Why You Need a Safety Statement

Safety Statements have been a legal requirement for all companies in Ireland since the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act of 1989, and reaffirmed under the 2005 Act.
A Safety Statement is essentially a company’s documented Health & Safety Management Programme, outlining how it ensures the safety, health, and welfare of all employees while at work.
The Health and Safety Authority (HSA) enforces these regulations and has penalised hundreds of companies for non-compliance.
Your Safety Statement must be based on:

  • Identification of workplace hazards
  • Assessment of associated risks
  • Implementation of control measures

Why Health & Safety Matters for Small Businesses

Every employee, worker, or volunteer has a legal right to work in safe conditions, especially with regard to their personal health. Employers are responsible for providing this environment.
Failure to do so can result in: Injury or illness, Legal penalties, Reduced productivity and morale
Investing in proper Health & Safety practices protects not only your people but your entire business.
